About Vegan Cookies
Kelly Peloza is a consistently motivated eighteen year old recent high school graduate who is always creating something, whether it’s drawing a portrait, taking a photograph, or crafting a cookie recipe. She values the aesthetics of the world and the art of baking is no exception. Her impetus to create a cookie book was to show the world that vegan baking, cookies in particular, needn’t be inaccessible or an underwhelming experience for the palate. After becoming vegan at age fourteen and becoming interested in baking, she soon formed the opinion that instructing bakers to use “egg replacer” or tofu in a recipe was no way to introduce vegan baking to the general population. Thereafter, she began formulating her own recipes with an emphasis on accessibility and deliciousness. She is author of the cookzine, Vegan Candyland, and runs the Etsy shop, Seitan Beats Your Meat (http://www.seitanbeatsyourmeat.etsy.com), where her zine and other items are sold. She writes the blogs Vegan Cookies (http://www.vegancookies.wordpress.com) and Seitan Beats Your Meat (http://www.seitanbeatsyourmeat.wordpress.com), photo documenting her every creation for the world to see. She hopes to get a book deal in the near future so her recipes can be published in a shiny new book to release to the public.
Kelly resides near Chicago when she’s not up in Milwaukee at art school.

Hey there!
Beautiful cookies! Wow! I’ve been vegan for 2 years, but I’ve only really gotten into muffin, loaf and bread baking. Cookies are next. I’d love to see some more recipes, especially basic ones. Like, just a vegan base cookie dough recipe that could be used as a creative springboard would be awesome.
there are a few cookies of interest on your website. are the recipes available. example the thin and chewy homestyle chocolate chip cookie. thanks carolyn

Dudes, I totally share your love and cookie obsession. I’m trying to find some nutrition info on vegan cookies – I bought one from alternative baking that is way higher in fat and calories than I believe is necessary. I made my own version at home but have no idea what the fat/calorie content was. Any suggestions on where to get some vegan baking nutrition info????
